The following are examples of projects that I managed in the public relations and communication field.
City of St. Anthony Village Notes newsletter
I began working on enhancing the Village Notes newsletter in the winter of 2020 by implementing best practices. I brought my experience that I have with laying out weekly e-newsletters and quarterly newsletters. I did research on other City newsletters and attended a workshop on newsletter creation and layout. I wanted to provide a more consistent and branded look, with themes/sections, removal of clip-art, and consistent graphics and photographs. My goal is to implement AP-Style formatting, which is the industry standard in written communications. This is a work-in-progress with getting people comfortable and familiar with this style/format. I have received positive feedback on improvements. The next goal would be to work with a designer to create a new look/template redesign and make improvements to the length of content and how often published (more often vs. quarterly). City of St. Anthony Fire Department open house video
In October 2019, I was asked to create a promotional video for the St. Anthony Fire Department covering their annual open house. The purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity for community members to come and visit the fire station to learn about fire safety at a fun and family-friendly experience. I took pictures and video throughout the event, and interviewed both the Fire Chief and Fire Lieutenant. then used iMovie to piece it together with graphics and music. The video is housed on the Fire Department’s webpage, and has been shared across social media. View the video.

St. Anthony-New Brighton School District website launch
The St. Anthony-New Brighton School District was in the process of redesigning their website with a new vendor and content management system (CMS), called Finalsite. I began working on the website redesign when I started my role at the district in September of 2019. After evaluating the site and goals, I met with district leaders and determined that we needed to revaluate the process and adjust the launch timeline. I completed an inventory of the current website alongside the new website, updating content while learning the new CMS. Myself, along with our Director of Communications and Director of IT, presented a new plan to the School Board, with a launch date of July 2020. We were able to launch the new website on time with positive feedback from the School Board and the community. View the site: isd282.org.

I was asked to help promote a series of events, called Community Engagement Circles, through the St. Anthony-New Brighton Family Services Collaborative and the school district. One of the goals of the district and the School Board was to create a district communication plan. After researching other district’s plans, I put together a communication plan that was presented to the Superintendent and School Board back in April of 2020. My goal was to capture the district’s strategic goals of high expectations matched with high support for students and staff, and strong communication and relationships with families and community. Sarah’s… an Oasis for Women website
During my senior year at St. Catherine University, I created a demo website for an organization, called Sarah’s… an Oasis for Women (Sarah’s). The class was tasked with looking at the organization’s needs, and recommending ways to improve their communication tools with their community and supporters. Our group decided to focus on the website since it was outdated, unorganized, and difficult to navigate. I created a free WordPress site as an example of what the organization could accomplish just by updating the look and reorganizing the information. Sarah’s director was excited about the demo, and asked me to personally work their new website. Over the summer of 2014, I created and launched the new website for Sarah’s during a work-study independent course. I purchased a new theme from website developers, and added my own photography, graphic design ideas, and content.
